3.4 The Philippines National Red Cross proposes to continue its service programmes which provides for immediate relief assistance, temporary shelter and appropriate medical care/hospitalisation to the new arrivals of Vietnamese Boat People who land in various parts of the country, prior to their transportation to the Refugee Centre in Palawan. The National Society also plans to increase its various health and training facilities in home nursing, first-aid, and life-saving in the Refugee Processing Centre in Bataan,

in Bataan, to continue furnishing babies-layettes, as also, meeting of the blood requirements of the Centre's hospital, and provision of the services of a medical officer in Palawan. The National Society further plans to assist the local depressed communities around the Refugee Centres, with intensified training in preventive health care & income generating projects, with a view to ensuring their self-reliance.
