Some suxxestions:
i)
If a "clear of symptoms" period is applied, this should be reduced to a maximum of six months.
ii) All possible effort should be made to keep the refugea family
intact. This may imply changes in salection criteria. Å disabled or medically-at-risk refugee should be allowed to join his family if the latter is already rasuttled in a third country.
iii) UNHCR would like to suggest that governments not yet having adopted the "Twenty or More" plan consider doing so.
Such a decision should make it possible to accept the otherwise inadmissible "family reunion" cases, This would be the best solution for the refugees concerned and would also be in the spirit of burden-sharing with other countries which under regular quotas and/or under special programmes assist disabled refugees.
