the CWGC commitment in Hong Kong:

PRESENT MAINTENANCE ARRANGEMENTS

The graves and memorials are maintained by a team of 8 locally
engaged gardeners, under a local Group Supervisor, all directly employed by the CWGC. Extensive administrative assistance is given
by the Hong Kong Government's Urban Services Department, the CWGC's
principal point of contact with the present Hong Kong administration.

The Group Supervisor is provided with a CWGC quarter at Sai Wan Bay War Cemetery.
8.
Regular inspection visits to Hong Kong are made by administrative
and technical officers of the CWGC staff based in Maidenhead, England.
LAND TENURE
9. The sites of Sai Wan Bay War Cemetery (6.02 acres) and Stanley
Military Cemetery (2.48 acres) are held by the CWGC, for so long as
they are used as cemeteries, under Deeds of Appropriation granted by
the Governor of Hong Kong dated 9 February 1953 (as amended 31 March
1977) for Sai Wan Bay and 29 January 1957 for Stanley Cemetery.
There is no formal legal title in favour of the CWGC in respect of
the war graves or memorials in the 8 civil cemeteries but assurances of non-distrubance have been given in respect of most of these graves by the local government and religious authorities responsible for
those cemeteries.
LOCAL LEGISLATION
10. Public conduct in Sai Wan Bay War Cemetery and Stanley Military Cemetery is governed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
Cemeteries Rules 1977, made by the Hong Kong Government under Section
117 of the Public Health and Urban Services Ordinance (Cap 132).
