THE EMPLOYMENT (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1985
(No. 76 of 1985)
The principal object of this Ordinance is to amend the Employment Ordinance to provide for a long service payment to certain employees whose contracts of employment are terminated by dismissal. The new Part VB is based in the existing Part VA (which relates to severance payments).
2. The long service payment is calculated by reference to an employee's age and years of service. It is not payable where the employee is entitled to a severance payment under Part VA or where the employee is summarily dismissed under section 9 of that Ordinance.
3. Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
