HONG KONG AND ILO: 1986 INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE

1. The Department have suggested that on this occasion I should write to you on the above subject.

It is now time once again to consider the composition of the UK delegation to the annual International Labour Conference in Geneva (4-25 June 1986). In previous years representatives of Hong Kong have formed part of the British delegation and we have now been asked to provide details of our delegation for this year's conference. therefore wish to ascertain details of the composition of Hong Kong's delegation to the forthcoming conference.

You may recall correspondence over the last year resting with Mr Ehrman's letter to Mr Chen of 7 August 1985 concerning Hong Kong and ILO and it is with this in mind that the Department have asked that this year's request be addressed to you. In the past we have communicated directly with the Commissioner of Labour (Mr Bridge), and as a matter of courtesy, I am copying this letter to him.
I look forward to meeting you on 16 and 17 January.
