Thank you for your letter LA 211/17 of 6 January, which we discussed during your visit here.
As you know, my principal interest in the I.L.O. is to keep an eye on Hong Kong's participation in it in the context of our negotiations with the Chinese regarding our status after 1997 in all international organizations. In this context, I can see no problem with Hong Kong's participating as usual in this year's conference and I have asked Mr. Bridge to correspond direct with you on the detailed arrangements for it.
As mentioned during our meeting we have been unable to trace Ehrman's letter of 7 August 1985 and I should be most grateful for a copy.
