An Ordinance to amend the Fire Services Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1.
This Ordinance may be cited as the Fire Services (Amendment) Ordinance Short title.

Section 3(2) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "10, 18, 19,". Amendment of
(Cap. 95.)
section 3.
The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after section 14B the Addition of new
section 14C.
3. following-
"Payment for loss or damage to property.
Third Schedule.
14C. (1) Where the Governor or the Director has found a subordinate officer or member of other ranks guilty of an offence against discipline, the Governor or the Director may, in addition to any punishment that the Governor or the Director is empowered to award in accordance with the provisions of the Third Schedule, order such subordinate officer or member of other ranks to pay to the Government in full or in part—
(a) the cost of repairing or replacing any article of clothing, equipment or property whatsoever entrusted or supplied to him in his capacity as a subordinate officer or member of other ranks which has been lost or damaged by him;
(b) the cost of repairing or replacing any Government property
lost or damaged by him; or
(c) the amount of any compensation paid, ex gratia or other- wise, by the Government to any person in respect of the loss or damage of that person's property caused by the subordinate officer or member of other ranks,
but only in each casc if the loss or damage has resulted from the neglect or fault of such subordinate officer or member of other ranks and the amount ordered to be paid does not exceed his salary for one month.
(2) The Director may require a subordinate officer or member of other ranks to pay to the Government in full or in part-
(a) the cost of repairing or replacing any article of clothing, equipment or property whatsoever entrusted or supplied to him in his capacity as a subordinate officer or member of other ranks which has been lost or damaged by him;
(b) the cost of repairing or replacing any Government property
lost or damaged by him; or
