Mr. D.I. McIntosh, Chief Estate Manager, Taikoo Shing (Management) Limited

24.1.86

(i) Siting of a proposed footbridge close to Pine Mansion will result in a loss of privacy.

(ii) Construction operations, concrete mixing or

batching plant in works areas close to Taikoo Shing may cause disturbance.

(iii) Access ramps to the tunnel should be moved

further away from Taikoo Shing.

(iv) Access ramps to the tunnel should be screened by landscaping to minimise noise and air pollution.

Letter written 18.2.86 explaining the following aspects of the scheme:

i) There are no plans to construct a footbridge

as part of this scheme; this is not considered to be a valid objection.

(ii) Disturbance due to construction activity is

inevitable. The main concrete batching plant will be in Cha Kwo Ling Quarry.

(iii) Due to physical constraints and design/safety

standards, the access ramps cannot be relocated further away from Taikoo Shing.

(iv) Landscaping will be provided, to screen the

access ramps, which, along with the noise- reducing measures to be incorporated in the project, will satisfy the Environment Chapter of the Hong Kong Planning Standards and Guidelines.

It is recommended that the objections be overruled although it is considered that items (i) and (iv) have been substantially met.
