Introduction

The purpose of this memorandum is to seek authorization of road works, and the use as described in Annex A, to enable the construction of the Footbridge across Hennessy Road at Percival Street to proceed.

Hennessy Road at its junction with Percival Street has always been a difficult location for pedestrians to cross due to a conflict between the high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The situation is worse on days when horse racing and football matches are

It is therefore considered necessary to construct a footbridge system with extensions across Percival Street on both sides of Hennessy Road SO as to segregate the vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The construction of this footbridge system will be timed

timed to coincide with the redevelopment of the buildings alongside the junction of these two roads. The captioned item "Footbridge across Hennessy Road at Percival Street" is the first step towards the planned footbridge system.
