THE PEAK TRAMWAY (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1986
(No. 57 of 1986)
This Ordinance was enacted following lengthy discussions with the Peak Tramways Company Limited, and contains amendments, which have been agreed with the company, to the terms on which it runs and operates the Peak tramway.
2. The new section 2A gives the Company the right to run and operate the tramway for 10 years with effect from 1 January 1984 on payment of a premium of $2,790,000. The new section also empowers the Secretary for Transport to grant the right for a further period of 10 years on production of proof of a satisfactory modernization scheme.
3. The new section 22 enables the Company to charge such fares as it thinks fit, subject to prescribed limits as regards monthly tickets.
4. Before the Acting Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Acting Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
