Dear Sir

Reads (werks, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Chapter 370) (Notice under section 8 (2))

PWP Item No.164th

-

.

Access to Wanchai Reclamation,

Grade Separated Access Facilities

Stewart Road Footbridge

We act for the owner of Sun Hung Kai Centre, 30 Harbour Road (IL8389) and wish to formally object to the footbridge proposal published as above as shown on Plan No.80111/R0/02.

The grounds of objection are as follows:-

(1)

(61)

On the north side of Gloucester Road, the proposed footbridge should not be connected to ground level and the proposed steps should be omitted. We consider the connection should be at 1st floor level either:

a) to the podium of Causeway Centre at the position shown in red on

the attached plan;

OR

b) to the existing footbridge link between Sun Hung Kai Centre and

Causeway Centre at the point shown blue on the attached plan.

The footbridge was not shown in any 0.2.P. and therefore there has been no general right of objection.

The reasons for cmitting the connections to ground level on the northern side of Cloucester Road are:-

(a)

(3)

Harbour Brive has been converted into a one-way circulation system and the section between Causeway Centre and Harbour Centre in a heavy traffic situation.

Directing pedestrians to ground level would add to the confusion/ congestion already existing, and will create a situation similar to the Fleming Road corner/China Resources Building where pedestrians try to cross the road in heavy traffic conditions.
