IMPACT OF THE CO-ORDINATION POLICY ON NEW BUS ROUTES
AS AT JUNE 1986
Having regard to the general and specific
objectives identified in this paper, and so long as there is
capacity available on the railways the criteria to be
applied in considering new bus routes will be -
Urban Routes
(1)
-
There will be no restriction on routes which
(i) Do not stop within 400m of a railway station;
(2)
or
(ii) Pass or terminate at only one railway station
and otherwise do not stop within 400m of a
railway station.
bus routes which have both termini within rail
corridors or serve centres along rail lines shall
not normally be permitted unless the intervening
route deviates substantially from the railway.
(3)
routes which parallel the railway should do so for
a maximum of four stations and for not more than
half of the bus route length.
