A milestone in the Development of the Science of Life

The discovery of the isotopic tracing technology has

promoted the human's field of vision from the cell-level

to the sub-cell level, molecule-level, and even to the sub-

molecule level. This significant breakthrough has provided

an incomparably wide vista for the development of the science

of life. At present, 70% of the achievements gained in the

science of life are inseparable from the tracer atoms; while

90% of the achievements in the field of molecule biological

engineering reply on tracer atoms.

Tracer atoms has provided not only an effective means

for the study of normal human biology and pathology,

pharmaceutical selection, and the study on metabolism and

cause of disease; but has also laid the material foundation

for the learning of the microscopic physico-chemical process

within the organism and cell, as well as of the nature of

life.

Whether or not the artificial synthetic cattle insulin

crystal is identical with the natural cattle insulin crystal

needs to be ascertained only by means of the tracer atom

(carbon-14). The determination by tracer atom is a powerful

proof that China is the first in the world to successfully

synthesize the cattle insulin. Nucleic acid and protein con-

stitute the material basis of the life process. An explan-

ation of the biological compounding and the structure of the

nucleic acid is of great significance to the discovery of the
