In another development, a few papers said results of a survey conducted by the Marketing Decision Research Company between September 1 and 20 showed that 22 per cent of the 1 237 respondents were against the building of the Daya Bay plant.

Thirty-six per cent of the respondents felt that the nuclear project should be shelved until more detailed information on the safety aspect of the plant was available.

Another 34 per cent of the respondents agreed that the project should go ahead as scheduled. But most of them thought that there was a need to make public more information on the safety aspect of the plant.
