However,
if leaders in mainland China are reasonable men and men of honour,. I am optimistic that there is always a possibility, even a remote possibility, that such an arrangement, as mentioned above, can be made to keep the British Government in Hong Kong after 1997, through the Basic Law, if only people of Hong Kong duly air their views more less like what I have suggested in this letter.. You see, the leaders in mainland China did say that they would like to listen and respect the wishes of people of Hong Kong. So they had better do now to meet the wishes of people of Hong Kong.
or
If tactfully handled, the Basic Law could well be a turning point for people of Hong Kong to keep the British Government in Hong Kong af- ter China regains sovereignty. Please kindly note, people of Hong Kong can run Hong Kong themselves, with the British Government in Hong Kong after China regains sovereignty. It is safer that way for people of Hong Kong to have a high dregree of autonomy. Do you get my point ?
With all good wishes and the best of luck for trying to make
miracles happen.
Yours sincerely,
Rosing high
