on Electrical Engineering. All
these have facilitated the gathering of information on nuclear
power development for our country, keeping us abreast with
changes, enhancing our technology, bringing improvement to our
management, strengthening safety measures and promoting the development of nuclear power. Our country has confirmed that we will formulate our nuclear safety regulations in accordance with international standards. We have now published four codes of safety requirements for nuclear power plants: in site selection, plant design, operation, and quality assurance. They conform with those drawn up by IAEA and the ICRP. This, no doubt, will
be instrumental to the safety and quality control in the
construction and operation of our nuclear plants.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I once again thank you all for making positive and useful suggestions on the construction of
the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant. We shall study them most
carefully and, as far as possible, put them to use. I believe that you have, through this visit to Beijing to reflect your
opinions and exchange views with us, improved our mutual
understanding and increased our appreciation of the safety
aspects of the Daya Bay Plant, which will be beneficial in allaying and removing the anxiety of the Hong Kong people.
Now, I wish to invite Mr MA Fubang, Director of
of the
Nuclear Power Bureau to give our preliminary views on the
observations for the consideration of the Chinese Government and
the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co. Ltd. contained in
your Fact-finding Report.
Thank you.
