In the second half of 1985, the president of China Light and Power, together with British bankers and high-ranking British diplomatic officials amassed in an expedition to Peking to, persuade the Peking Leadership to buy electricity generators from GEC of Britain and nuclear reactors from France. (SCMP, Jan.3rd 1986).

Some as yet non-public talk is saying that Britain obtained economic concessions for the return of "sovereignty" to China. This talk makes us sad and angry, because all along we have trusted Britain as a foster father, and loved China as our mother. Although all material on the Sino-British negotiations was kept confidential, we respected those concerned as honourable people, and have never suspected any "shady deals". So the above talk is to us a bolt out of the clear blue sky. We should be told the truth. We do not wish to be forever kept in the dark.

5. Some Umelcos insist that those objecting to the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant are only a small band of ignorant, scheming polticians, and women and children. They called up gods and demons to teach the public to believe that nuclear power is a must for social advancement.

We are worried by the biases of these high ranking councillors, Your Majesty's loyal subjects. The fact is that not one well known politician was in the ranks of the over one million objecting to nuclear power. One of the people behind the campaign was only a reverend of the Anglican Church. The one million people who signed their names in the anti-Daya Bay Plant campaign truly represented the public, and the small band of Sirs and councillors who denounced them are precisely the "scheming" politicians they themselves attacked.

Our understanding of nuclear power is like this:
