Sing Pao said that the lobbyists should not mind even if Zhao Ziyang and Ji Pengfei did not meet them because Zhao and Ji were not nuclear experts and their decisions were based on views of the experts.

Sing Tao Jih Pao and the Express said that China's views were that public concern over the N-plant project was centred on the safety aspect. China would be respecting public opinion if it attached importance to safety.
