The Present System and it Future Development.

Introducti on

The purpose of this paper is to discuss

the ways in which the patent law of Hong Kong should be

developed for the benefit of Hong Kong. It is prompted by

changes in patent law that have occurred in the United

Kingdom, the recent promulgation of a patent code in China

and the realisation that, as Hong Kong's manufacturers

become increasingly competitive in international markets

for sophisticated products, the protection of their ideas

by means of patents assumes ever greater importance for the

development of Hong Kong as a manufacturing centre.
