(b) if the registration of European patents is to take the place of the existing system, when should that change occur and what should happen to existing registrations;
(c)
should a system of "petty patents" be introduced, either by original grant or registration.
For this purpose a brief paper and questionnaire should be prepared.
An approach should be made to the European Patent Office to discuss the feasibility of registering European patents in Hong Kong.
The Chinese authorities should be approached informally for their reaction to a change in the Hong Kong system.
In the light of the responses from the commercial community in Hong Kong, the European Patent Office and the Chinese authorities, the advice of the Executive Council should be sought.
