I am grateful for the time you gave Michael Cartland and myself yesterday when we came to explain the changes proposed to the status of Hong Kong's Office in Geneva and to forewarn you of amendments which we would be requesting to the UN directory of Permanent Missions in Geneva.

Since seeing you we have received instructions formally to request the deletion (from page 151 of the current edition of the directory) of the entries hitherto included there in relation to Hong Kong. I enclose a Note detailing these.

I recall that you told us that a new edition of the directory was to be finalized in the next few days. I would be particularly grateful if action could be taken on this request in time for the new edition to reflect the changes we seek.
