MTN CODES:
Romania is an active player in the context of the Tokyo Round Codes, having joined the Meat and Dairy Arrangements in 1980, as well as the Standards, Customs Valuation, Import Licensing ans Civil Aircraft Codes. In 1981, Romania joined the Antidumping Code.
With the exception of the Aircraft Agreement, which the U.S. applies only provisionally to Romania, there are no restrictions on U.S.-Romanian trade relations under the Codes. Romania has observer status in the Government
Procurement and Subsidies Codes.
BILATERAL TRADE AGREEMENTS:
As with Hungary, the most important bilateral trade agreement is the 1975 Agreement on Trade Relations under which Romania is given conditional MFN status in the U.S. The President recommended a one-year extension of MFN treatment for Hungary on June 4 [Sec.402(d)(5)].
