2. At a meeting held on 7 January 1986 the ADB's Board of Directors approved recommendations that PRC should be admitted to membership of the Bank. A Board of Governors' resolution to confirm the decision has been sought by 17 February. At the same time, Taiwan will be allowed to retain her separate identity and membership, and would be referred to as "Taipei, China". It is hoped that Taiwan, though not supportive of this move, will tacitly accept it.
