Amend the Banking Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Banking (Amendment) Ordinance 1986 and shall be deemed to have come into operation immediately after midnight on 31 March 1986.

Short title and commencement.

Section 12(1) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "$300,000" Amendment of and substituting the following-

"$360,000".

3. Section 12B of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "$15,000" where it appears in subsections (1) and (2) and substituting in each case the following-

"$17,000".

4. Section 12E(3) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "$15,000" where it appears in paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting in each case the following-

section 12. (Cap. 155.)

Section 12H(3) of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a) in paragraph (a) by deleting "$30,000" and substituting the following-

"$34,000";

(b) in paragraph (b) by deleting "$7,500" and substituting the following-

"$8,500";

(c) in paragraph (c) by deleting "$30,000" and substituting the following

"$34,000"; and

(d) in paragraph (d) by deleting "$7,500" and substituting the following—

"$8,500".

Explanatory Memorandum

This Bill implements proposals in the 1986 Budget to increase the fees

payable under the Banking Ordinance by local and overseas banks.

2. The Bill has no Public Service staffing implications and will result in additional revenue of approximately $12.5 million per annum.
