The number

of visitors coming to Hong Kong in the

first half of 1986, at 1 670 591, was 5% higher than in the

same period last year. This increase was largely attributable

to more visitors coming from Japan, the United States, and the

United Kingdom. At the end of June 1986, there were 20 757

hotel rooms in Hong Kong, compared with 18 070 a year ago. The average hotel occupancy rate in the first half of this

year was 82%, which was lower than

than the 88% recorded in the

same period last year.
