Following а decline of 5% in 1985, the quantity increased by 7% in the
index of manufacturing

As can be seen from the figures on domestic exports (paragraph 2.1), on the order-book positions of a selection of
large manufacturers included in the monthly survey on

(1) A Quarterly Survey of Industrial Production was started in 1982 with the purpose of producing an index of industrial production for the whole manufacturing sector. These quarterly indices are intended to reflect the up-to-date levels and trends of net output at constant prices. The following table gives the overall manufacturing index, together with the indices for the five most important industry groups:
