Secretary of State's Visit to Hong Kong
I apologise for not confirming beforehand that I have settled all the remaining programme problems of which I am aware with the Governor. I have told him that the Secretary of State is unlikely to need a full- scale meeting on banking problems, but would certainly welcome a full discussion with the Governor himself. I have said that the meeting at 0930 on 12 October should be exclusively on the handling of the press conference, and need only be attended by those officials concerned with that. Finally, but not least, we have moved the tailor's appointment to after dinner on 11 October in order to give more time.
