6. However, these are early days yet to be making firm plans for visits to either Peking or to Japan. At the meeting with Mr Kuranari it will probably suffice for the Japanese to know that they need not plan for a visit in the first four months of 1987. Mr Kuranari's diary is apparently beginning to fill up for this period, whether or not Mr Gorbachev eventually visits Japan during this period. We can subsequently confirm the Whitsun dates a
bit nearer the time, if they still seem convenient.
