Mrs Elizabeth Peacock MP telephoned this afternoon to seek FCO assistance in arranging calls in Hong Kong and Bangkok when she visits next month.

2. Mrs Peacock is a member of the Select Committee on Employment that will be visiting Japan from 11-18 October. Afterwards she will be paying a private visit to Hong Kong (18-21 October) and Thailand (21-24 October) accompanied by her husband and would welcome an opportunity to call on our Trade Representatives. Mrs Peacock as MP for Batley is particularly interested in textiles. Her husband is a businessman in the food industry and is a Consultant with the FAO.

I undertook to pass on her request and would be grateful if you and Mr Adams could arrange with Hong Kong and Bangkok. Mrs Peacock has received background briefing for the visit to Japan but would also welcome any briefing we can provide for Hong Kong and Thailand.
