will be given to adopt the system of China. It is possible that we will adopt something from one system and something else from another system. Anyhow, it is based on the principle of "one country, two systems" and the practical situation of Hong Kong. This question cannot be answered

at the present moment. Decision could only be arrived at after collecting the views of different strata. At present, there is no specific concept. Political structure is of course the most significant part of the Basic Law and may be studied first. As for other issues, they are very simple.

Overseas civil servants should work hard and have better co-operation with the local peoplc. Their work and pay will remain the same.

As for young people, they are the foundation, masters and future hope of Hong Kong. A recent letter from the .K. Federation of Students Union expressed some very good ideas. Considerations will be given to the proposals. The main concern of students should however remain in acquiring more knowledge, studying hard and be responsible for striving for permanent prosperity of Hong Kong in future. It is essential that students take part in political activities and are concerned about the affairs of the country and Hong Kong. But they should focus their attention to their studies.

Regarding the question of language, it is for the SAR Government. to popularize the use of Putonghua. The standard is pretty good now. English and Chinese should be equally important in Hong Kong; and also Cantonese. It would be awkward if one needs an inter-

preter in China.

The suggestion regarding the young children is very good. It is my wish that education leaders
