Mr Waddington's private office has been contacted and will confirm his availability next week. It may be necessary to invite his PS also. If so, the total number of hosts and

guests will come to 20. No. 1 Carlton Gardens accommodates a total of 24 people.

The menu, wines and format of invitation are sent with this fax. In view of the small number of guests, the invitations will probably be typed on blank cards instead of printed.

The Hong Kong Association would like to host a lunch on 10 September for H.E., Sir S Y, Miss Dunn and Sir Michael. HK Dept, FCO has been informed and this does not clash with other appointments.

If it is decided that there should be a reception on

10 September at HKGO, I will make suitable arrangements.

At the moment, 1 suite and 9 single rooms have been reserved at Holiday Inn, Mayfair. Please tell me if this has to be amended for any reason e.g. changes to composition of the delegation. Please also advise arrival and departure

details.
