The entertainment which the Governor and Unofficials

wish to offer could most conveniently take the form of a lunch immediately after the call, at 1300 on 11 September. The Secretary of State and Mr Renton would both be able to

attend. I understand from the Social Secretary that 1 Carlton Garden is free for lunch on that day. Although GHF would be unable to make the arrangements as a Minister will not be host, there would be no difficulty about using an outside caterer. I hope the Secretary of State will feel

able to agree, as he did for similar occasion in 1983,

that he should be the Governor's guest in his own official residence.
