In addition the Prime Minister may wish Sir Percy Cradock

to be present during the talks. The Prime Minister will not

the absence of Mr Y P Cheng, who has interpreted for her at

Chinese meetings in the past. On grounds of cost, and to

widen our options for future occasions, we have this time

chosen Mr Ren, a highly experienced interpreter who works

in the Chinese Section of the BBC External Service. Mr Ren

will be available to interpret for the Prime Minister

throughout this visit.
