REQUEST FOR BRIEFING

VISIT TO THE UK BY ZHENG TUOBIN, CHINESE MINISTER OF FOREIGN ECONOMIC RELATIONS AND TRADE: 14-18 MAY 1986

Zheng Tuobin is to visit the UK from 14-18 May as a guest of the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. During his visit here Zheng will call on the Prime Minister; Secretaries of State for Trade and Industry, Energy and Employment and meet with the Ministers for Trade and Overseas Development. A copy of the programme is attached. Zheng is expected to sign AN IPPA and a Soft Loan agreement. He is also expected to press for increased relaxation of UK quota restrictions. OT2/3 will be responsible for co-ordinating the briefing. The attached annex lists the briefs required and the responsible Department and Division. Briefs (with the exception of Nos 2, 6, 8) not to exceed one page should be typed on crested paper in the following form:
