CHINA : MARKET ASSESSMENT
I am enclosing the draft China Market Assessment for 1986 and would be grateful for your comments, and those of SBTC, by 15 September. In particular has SBTC anything to suggest for Section IIC (ii) and have you anything for IIC (iii)? your comments are reasonably brief, by all means send them by telegram.
If
I am not yet able to send you the detailed statistics shaving resources allocated but will send these on as soon as I can. But since these are simply meant as a factual account of the present position I hope you will be able to let me have comments on the enclosed text without waiting for the figures.
I enclose TRED's letter which explains the background to this exercise, and the notes giving guidance on the completion of the forms. I am sorry that the delay nere in sending you the enclosed draft has somewhat compressed the timetable for its completion, particularly since all of us (and you in particular) are increasingly busy with the State visit, Seaday and Lord Young.
