taken by members of the Executive Council. The new version would remove reference to Her Majesty the Queen.

In January 1985 Ministers agreed that an alternative

oath should be available for new members of the Legislative

Council who might not wish to take the Oath of Allegiance upon their first appointment to the Council. The purpose
