The HK Economic Journal: China has to follow HK people's way of doing things. If China applies its traditional
high-handed measures to HK affairs, righteous HK people will not keep quiet as long as the British still has administrative right over the territory.
The Financial Daily: BLDC members should not sit on the BLCC standing committee to safeguard the independence of the consultative panel.
Sing Pao Wan Pao: The BLCC standing committee should conduct a re-election from among the 19 committee members. Although there is nothing wrong with the
candidates, HK people
must first of all be made to believe that the contents and spirit of the Basic Law are to safeguard the rule of law.
(report) A reliable source: A delegation of over 12 BLDC members in China, led by BLDC vice-chairman Lu Ping, will arrive in HK for a visit lasting about a month on December 22.
BLCC members Chang Ka-mun, Man Sai-cheong, Lau Nai-keung, HK Affairs Society Professor Huang Chen-ha and BLDC member
Liu Yiu-chu: The
re-election of the office-bearers of the
BLCC executive committee shows that those in charge of the consultative committee are responsive to public opinion.
BLDC member Martin Lee: The outcome of the new election of office- bearers of the BLCC executive committee may have been different without the election on November 6. He is happy that public views have been taken into account and that a fresh election has been conducted.
