Ming Pao: The original draft on the structure of the Basic Law is already a well thought-out document. Peking

officials have pragmatically and sincerely accepted suggestions for amendments. All these are encouraging. Generally speaking, members from HK have spoken more than their Chinese counter- parts and they probably can better reflect HK's views.

Sing Pao: The amendments made to the original

draft on the structure of the Basic Law are encouraging as it can remove worries that the BLDC members from HK

cannot change things decided by Chinese officials.

SOMP: It is rare in the Great Hall of the People to hear the echoes of dissonant voices. But when HK and its future

local authority must share the same conviction with the central in defending the country's constitution. The local authority should support and should not be in opposition to the central government.

Ching Po: An early completion of the draft of the Basic Law will have a stablising effect on the confidence in HK.
