Question: Will the Government inform this Council :

(a) how

have prosecutions

been made

of sale

pornographic video

(b)

tapes over the past 3 years;

how many convictions were there and what

were their penalties; and

has Government considered any plan to

control the sale of pornographic video

tapes including purchase by mail-order?

Separate records of prosecutions and convictions

for offences relating to video-tapes are

not

available

before January 1985, but a total of 1,078 and 1,237 tapes

were seized in 1983 and 1984 respectively.
