Furthermore, the suggested amendment conditionally exempting registered medical practitioners from the requirement of recording the supply and dispensing of medicines in a separate book will be warmly welcomed by practising medical personnel because it eliminates the duplication of efforts in keeping records.
Sir, using statutory logo for authorized sellers of poisons is a device for public interests. But the purpose of using such logo will never be fulfilled unless the general public are equipped with basic medical knowledge. It is not uncommon that many people still have difficulty in distinguishing "listed" and "authorized" sellers of poisons as well as "Part I" and "Part II" poisons etc.
I, therefore, urge the relevant government
departments to plan and organize health education programmes for conveying basic but essential knowledge on pharmacy and poisons in order to help the general public to have a better understanding of the proper use of pharmaceutical products.
In order to properly enforce this law, an effective monitor system is indispensable. One of the areas we concern most is whether the current system is adequate to monitor the
enforcement.
