Thank you for your letter of 2 June. I am most grateful to you and to your colleagues in UMELCO for sending me a copy of your Annual Report for 1985.
I am sorry not to have replied before but I have just returned from a visit to South East Asia.
If I may say so, the Report is a most impressive record of dedication to public service. Through the range of activities in which they have been involved, and the breadth of the issues they have debated in LEGCO during the year under review, the Unofficials have affected the life of the ordinary citizen of Hong Kong in countless ways.
