(Financial Daily): Powers of the future legislature must be clarified as it would be vested with the real power.

(Sing Pao): Between now and the 1987 review, HK people should monitor the operation of the

legislature and decide whether reforms should stop at the present stage or should be expanded through direct or indirect elections.

(Sing Tao Wan Pao): Reforms during the transition should be kept to an appropriate level to avoid drastic changes following the

changeover.

(Ronald Li, chairman of Far East Stock Exchange): He told visiting Ji Pengfei that most HK people were satisfied with the present

political system and did not wish to see drastic changes.

(Anthony Ha, BLCC member): It was a good thing that Ji Pengfei had not mentioned HK's political system at the BLCC inauguration because it indicated that China not yet have a fixed by policy on the territory's future political system.
