HONG KONG

Background

1.

Sir Y K Pao last called on the Prime Minister on

21 March 1986.

Implementation of the Joint Declaration/Joint Liaison

Group

2.

The first meeting of the Joint Liaison Group (JLG)

took place in London in July 1985; the second in Peking in

November 1985; and the third in Hong Kong in March 1986.

The fourth is scheduled for London between 22 and 25 July.

3. Following decisions in JLG III we and
