Press Release
The Government announced today that Mr Peter
Williams, the Secretary (General Duties), will leave
the service on completion of his contract at the end
of 1986. Mr Williams will have been in post for
about two years.
The new Secretary (General Duties) will be
Mr Barrie Wiggham who is currently Regional Secretary
(Hong Kong and Kowloon).
Mr Wiggham will leave his
present post in May 1986 and will initially undertake language studies. After a period of leave he is to
be seconded to HM Diplomatic Service for a temporary
appointment as Counsellor at the British Embassy in
Peking between July and October, before returning to
Hong Kong to take over from Mr Williams.
Mr CHAU Tak-hay, presently Deputy Regional.
Secretary (Hong Kong and Kowloon),will take over from Mr Wiggham and become Regional Secretary in May.
