REVIEW OF HONG KONG RECORDS: VISIT OF MR A L PURVES, DEPUTY SECRETARY (ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES) HONG KONG ON 30 JULY 1985
1.
As you know, the Governor of Hong Kong has asked Miss Blayney to consider the disposition of Hong Kong records leading up to independence. As you will have seen from FCO telegram No 906 of 27 June to Hong Kong, she has agreed to meet Mr Purves at 10 am on Tuesday 30 July for a brief discussion about her forthcoming visit to Hong Kong.
2.
The initial discussion will be followed by a longer meeting which will include others concerned with the future of Hong Kong records. I would suggest that this take place at 11.30 am in the Head of LRD's room at Cornwall House (CW 316) and would be grateful if the recipients of this minute could confirm that they are coming or let me know whom they have nominated to attend on their behalf. Robert Short, to whom this minute also goes, is of course free to bring others with him if he so wishes.
As background to this question, I enclose copies of this year's correspondence. Please let me know if there are any particular items you would like to discuss before the meeting.
