An Ordinance to amend the Corrupt and Illegal Practices Ordinance.

[31 May 1985]

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the

Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Corrupt and Illegal Practices (Amend- Short title. ment) Ordinance 1985.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended ---

Amendment of section 2.

(a) by deleting the definition of "election agent" and substituting the (Cap. 288.)

following-

(Cap. 367.)

(13 of 1985.)

* "election_agent" means a person appointed by a candidate in an

election as his election agent----

(a) under regulations made under section 28(d) of the Electoral

Provisions Ordinance; or

(b) under regulations made under section 28(d) of the Legislative

Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance 1985;";

(b) in the definition of "election petition”, by inserting after “Ordinance” the

following-

(13 of 1985.)

"or Part VII of the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance 1985":

(c) in the definition of "elector", by inserting after “Ordinance” the following—

"or the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance 1985": and

(13 of 1985.)

(d) in the definition of "returning officer". by inserting after "Ordinance" the

following-

(13 of 1985.)

"or the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance 1985”.

Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after para- Amendment of graph (a) the following paragraph—

"(ab) the Legislative Council and to any election to fill vacancies for elected

members of the Legislative Council:“.

4. Section 6 of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "No" and Amendment of substituting the following—

(13 of 1985.)

"Except where otherwise expressly provided by or under the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance 1985, no".
