Section 17A of the principal Ordinance is
(a)
in subsection (1) by inserting after
"application" the following
"ex parte";
(b) by deleting subsection (6) and substituting
the following
"(6) A travel document which is
surrendered to the Commissioner under
this section may, subject to section 17B,
be detained for
(a) a period of 6 months from the
date on which it is surrendered;
and
(b) such further period or periods
not exceeding 3 months at
any one time and 6 months in

all, as may be authorized by a
magistrate, upon application
