UK/CHINA CONSULAR AGREEMENT

1. Thank you for forwarding to NTD the exchange of

notes on the Consular Agreement. There appears to be an

error in the Chinese note which will require amendment.

2.

The Visa Office Understanding came into effect on 27

December, the date of Thomson's note which notified the

Chinese of completion of legal procedures. The Chinese

reply of 14 January however refers to the Understanding

having entered into force on 24 December, ie the date

of entry into force of the Hong Kong Ordinance and not (not)

the Understanding itself.
