With further reference to Keith Shipley's letter

of 3 January 1985 we have been unable to obtain details here of the pension arrangements made in the UK in respect of Judges and Stipendiary Magistrates.

Could you please try to get hold of details of current pension schemes for judges and magistrates and, if possible, any criteria used to differentiate between the pensions of members of the judiciary and civil servants.
