first and with your experience, would you comment on the expectation of refugees generally, because it seems to me that their image of the United States as a haven of great opportunity and relief may be out of proportion to the opportunities that are waiting for them thore, and whether you exercisc any influence on them to persuade them to not always make the United
States their first choice?
Let me answer your philosophical
question with a little anecdote, that I was a couple of years
but in another country
I met "omé refugees and I said to them,

we leave
"Why would you like to go to the United States?" And they said - the two or three people I talked with they said F "That is the only country we know about!" And I said, "Is that really so?" Now they say they are changing now, and now we have at least eighteen countries where we would like to go, because we have come to know some of them. The rescuc-at sea operation, which is another helping operation, 80-called RSRO- Rescue at Sea Resettlement Operation, we have running here. Sometime them to go to other countries. I know of some refugees saying that, "After the way we were treated on that ship, we would like to go to that country, because those people are so kind and helpful." So the United States was I think, the only one in the minds of many refugees; it is different now but still the United States that is no wonder, they took 175,000 immediately after the war in '75 and they have taken a good lot after that to their great credit, but each time then there are relatives. Bo it is no wonder that many people like to join their relatives, exactly where the big number is.
